Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Alan Ackmann received his B.A. in English in 2001 from the University of Evansville, and an MFA in 2006 from the University of Arkansas, where he studied creative writing (focusing on fiction) and rhetoric (focusing on technical and professional writing).
Alan is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse department at DePaul University, where he teaches courses in technical writing, the rhetoric of presentations, and rhetoric/writing in crisis contexts, among other courses.
He also authors video training focusing on technical writing available via Pluralsight, the world’s number on source of IT video training.
